Hi Mr. Rodgers,

I doubt you'll remember me, as it's been about 11 years since I stepped foot in your classroom my freshman year of high school. I heard about your book thru the Daily Herald website and mentioned it to my co-worker, someone who still shoots the breeze with me on GBN days: Jim Considine. It got me thinking about my days at GBN, my favorite classes, teachers, and my first day at a public school my freshman year (I had only attended a small private school in all my years prior). Up until that point, I only had female lay teachers or nuns try to teach me grammar, diagraming senteneces, anything rhetoric. To my surprise, I found your classes interesting in such a way that you were able to come to "our level," to make the material relatable to us (I still don't know how you were able to make "When the Legends Die" fun), and you were able to get us to WANT to learn the material. In any event, I never forgot how much your class alone opened my eyes in so many ways. It was your class, your teachings, that made me want to excel, to be proud to bring home an "A," to take pride in what I can accomplish, overall. I just wanted to let you know that I really found your class to be one of the highlights of my 4 years spent at Glenbard. It helped me become a good-natured, well-rounded person, knowing that I can still bring that "A" home with me to this day. I guess I just wanted to say, "Thank you."

I hope you continue to write. You have such a knack for narratives that a novel shouldn't be too far off???

Hope all is well,
Patti

Jim, I just stumbled across your web page today while I was looking things up regarding Coach Mac and thought I should send this information along. Coach Mac passed away yesterday. All I know is that the funeral is here in Eureka but I don't have any information regarding times yet but I will send it along when I find out. Dennis D.

I lived in Glenview for almost 8 years; you're at a great school, Hoss. I'll get your email from Klok and we'll have to get together when things calm down for you after the season. Have you played Maine South yet? That's a beast of a team. Good luck the rest of the way, Mike.

I am still in the Chicago area, closer to you than you could imagine. I am a guidance counselor (the job I was born for) and football coach at GlenBROOK North High School. I just got home from our game (a 35-7 victory over Maine West) and as I enjoy a refreshment I had to check to see if you got my message! We actually live in Lake Villa and YES we do have to get together!!!!!!!

Trigger, I stumbled on to this today, great job. I have two questions for you: Do you still have your Wham poster? And how does an oft injured defensive tackle get into the Hall of Fame and a warrior tight end find himself on the outside looking in?
